Our Star!

Triston's picture was in the paper posing with his medal. What a surprise, because we had no idea that it was going to be in there. There was a caption that read:
Hampshire Mat Club's youngest wrestler, Triston Timbrook shows off the medal he won at his first ever wrestling tournament in Keyser. Triston is the son of Josh and Debra Timbrook. He was so proud. They mispelled his name and he didn't actually "win" the medal but that's ok!

SNOW DAY!!!

From the time he got up until I finally gave in, Triston begged to please go outside and play in the snow. It wouldn't stop snowing and I refused to take them outside while it was still snowing. Finally, the snow stopped and don't think that Triston didn't notice. "Mom, it's not snowing, please can we go outside." I couldn't resist. So we went upstairs and put on two pair of sweats, two shirts, two pair of socks, coveralls and boots..... half and hour later we are ready to go outside. And wouldn't you know it, it was snowing again. Well, we were going outside regardless at this point. I am sweating, both boys wouldn't keep their gloves on and we couldn't find Triston's boots. Finally, we are ready. I grab my camera and head outside. The snow coming down has a slight mist in it and was extremely cold. The boys seemed to enjoy themselves, Triston made a snow angel and Trenton tried to go down to the swing set, but realized that he couldn't hardly move in all the clothes he had on and it was really difficult for him to make it back up the hill. Well, it took about thirty minutes to get ready to go outside and we were out there for about ten minutes, and that is pushing it. Oh well, I am sure we won't have school tomorrow either so maybe we can get back out for eleven minutes!!!!

Next time maybe Trenton will listen to his wise mommy and leave his gloves on while playing in the snow. I guess first of many hard lessons learned for our little guy!! Mom does now best!!!

January's Project

Each month Triston's class has a family project and this month it was to make a box for their Valentine's party. We have had a lot of fun on these projects. Mom helped Triston withe the scarecrow and then we finished it at home. Then mom helped Triston with his Christmas tree while the girls and I baked cookies. This time Triston, Trenton and myself all pitched in and helped decorate. The boys each painted a heart I cut out of white paper to put on the sides. The paint made a huge mess, but I just kept telling myself it is washable. Then I wrapped the box in red wrapping paper and we put the two hearts on the ends of the box. I placed black mailbox letters on the front for his name and added some stickers and die cuts from my scrapbooking stuff. There were a couple of moments that I needed a reality check during this project. Sometimes I get so caught up in the why "I" think that things should be and don't realize that I could learn a lot from the boys. Triston wanted to put the negative space that was left over from the stickers on the top of the box and I was like absolutely not! He did it anyway and I acted like it was the end of the world. I don't know why I have such a hard time sometimes. I told Triston that the box was ruined! (What a great mom!) Then he looked at me and said, "It is MY box, mom!" Already with the attitude! But he was right and it put me back in my place where I needed to be. Thanks Triston! But all in all we had a lot of fun decorating the box and it was great that Triston let Trenton put his heart on the box, too.

Sicky boy!

Triston went to the doctor on Friday because he complained of an ear ache the night before, well they couldn't find anything wrong with the ear but he was diagnosed with bronchitis. Then Trenton's cough got worse and so we managed to hold off until today and his diagnoses~ bronchitis!! But Trenton has to go back to the ENT at the end of the month because they did an x-ray the last visit and it shows fluid in the sinuses. So, they will have to do a procedure where they put a tube up his nose and into his sinuses and suck out the fluid. Poor little guy! We have had nothing but trouble with the "plumbing" in his head. First tubes, then months of sinus infections, bronchitis, strep throat, and now this! Hopefully this procedure will cut down on the amount of sickness. We go on the 30th so I will keep you posted.

WIN~PIN~OR DIE!!!

This was the caption on the t-shirt that Triston bought at the tournament this weekend. Triston had his first wrestling match on Sunday and it was something else. I was so nervous for him that I was shaking, bitting my nails, and practically in tears. He had a by the first round so there was a lot of wait time. His first match in the 6 & under 40lb. class was against a 6 year-old with an 11-2 record. Needless, to say the match lastest about 20 seconds and Triston got pinned. He was clueless, just smiling along like nothing was wrong!! Then we had about an hour wait or so and he had his second match. He managed to make it to the second period and racked 4 points but wa pinned. I was really proud of him and if he just understood a little more, then he would do a lot better. At one point in the second match he had the boy on his back and just let him get up! Triston was really proud of his metal. I think that he was the happiest loser there! I don't mean that to be mean, but all the other kids were balling like babies when they got beat and Triston was just smiling and showing off his metal, all entries received a metal for participation. I hope that is one thing that Triston doesn't pick up, I think that the kids should be taught that they won't always win and to just do better next time. I realize that these are young kids but I don't think I could handle Triston crying all the time, because his record is already 0-2~ but he is having fun and that is all that matters (FOR NOW!! :-)

Triston started with a little warm up with the team and then he was ready for his first match. He was absolutely scared to death!

Triston did a much better job the second time around. Maybe by the time this year is out he will win one!

Triston shakes the coaches hands and leaves with his coach. Trenton cheers big brother on yelling, "get'm Triston!"

Triston stands happy with his medal! Triston is just happy to be able to participate!

"Look mom, I won!" I didn't have the heart to tell him that he did not!

This is the Triston we all know and love, smiling pretty!

GOOFY KIDS!!!

I haven't had a chance lately to sit down and keep the blog up to date. So I am going to attempt this now, while the kids are occupied, and by occupied I mean asleep!! Here is a couple of pics of my "goofy" kids (notice the biggest kid). Triston got these "bubba" teeth at school and when I came home from work he had them in and played all cool! It was hilarious, how he just played like nothing was wrong. Maybe we have an actor on the rise!

And with Triston's chapped lips, I tell you it was a site!!

Poor Trenton really looks the part with food all over his face!

I don't even know what to say about this one!

WV MAT!!

What a threat!!! Triston modeled his singlet before we went to the scrimmage in Keyser last night. I was really proud of Triston, but I don't know if he has the Grrrr.... I told him that he just has to get mean, and his response was, "but I am not mean, I am nice." He didn't do too bad but he still hasn't understood to take it seriously. You can even see in the pics that he stopped to pose for the camera during one of his matches. We are supposed to travel to Kingwood this weekend but with he anticipated storm, I doubt we go. He does have a match not Sunday the 18th in Keyser which is a lot closer to home. But I guess we will have to wait and see. I have to keep reminding myself that he is only four and this is his first time on any organized team. Keep rooting for Triston and pray for my sanity because just the scrimmage last night had my nerves on edge. Enjoy the pics!

This is starting position. The boy Triston wrestled was two months younger than him but his was a tad bigger.

Triston, posing for the camera when he is supposed to be getting mean!!

The coach tells Triston to quit smiling. That is just Triston's personality. Now, Trenton on the other hand would probably give these four year olds a run for their money!

The boy got Triston down and Triston was able to get back up but he just doesn't quite understand just what to do.
