Well, he isn't the state champ but we sure were proud of Triston on Saturday. He wrestled right off the bat as soon as we got there and I think that he was a little overwhelmed. He went down there and was pinned in about 10 seconds. When he came back up to the stands I fussed at him for not trying and gave him the speech about giving his all and how disappointed I was. Well, get it is exactly what he did. His second match went three regulation rounds and two sudden death rounds and it didn't go in Triston's favor. He lost by two points. I lost my voice I was yelling so lound. Triston was ahead the whole match and then it was tied up and the other boy got take down points in the last second of the second sudden death match. There was only six kids in his bracket so after his second loss he wrestled one more time for fifth and sixth place. This match was also a close one. If you just compare the wrestling, Triston won but he locked his hands twice giving the other kid two points and that is what Triston lost by, two, again! This match also went all three rounds and Triston did give it his all. Trophies were awarded to the top six wrestlers in each class and since there were only six wrestlers, Triston did get a state trophy. This has been such a fun season and I have enjoyed watch Triston learn and get better each time out. The season is over and Triston's final record...well he only got one win but that's ok. Way to go Triston, you are state champ in our eyes.
